Does everyone feel less motivated, more tired after lunch?

Our circadian rhythm is the body’s way of helping us figure out when we should be awake and when we should sleep. Prior to indoor lights, this was driven almost completely by the sun (Yes, kerosene and gas lights existed, but did not give off the same light as incandescent bulbs, let alone cell phones).

Biologically speaking, it’s a natural response to circadian rhythms, which typically make us most sleepy from 2 to 4 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
There are some other reasons for the afternoon drag, including poor sleep at night, dehydration, diet, and stress. There are also some potential underlying conditions that a doctor would need to confirm. However, the number one reason is our own natural wake/sleep cycle. We naturally go into a drowsy slump in the afternoon, the exact time is often dictated by what time you wake up.

Ready to stop slumping? Set an alarm for 7 hours after your toes hit the floor in the morning and join us for the “sliding through the slump – CHARGEit Challenge!”
Here is what you need to do:
- Stay hydrated throughout the day (for me this gets me up from my desk more often because I have to go to the bathroom more)
- Set and alarm for 7 hours after you get out of bed
- When the alarm goes off spray 1-7 sprays of CHARGEit under your tongue
- Take a quick 5-minute walk around your space (be it a house, building, parking lot, wherever you can stretch your legs)
- Repeat tomorrow!
