Mother’s Day aka Don’t Forget to Take Care of Yourself!

Life as a Busy Mom (are there even any non-busy moms??) aka Take Care of Yourself on Mother’s Day

All mothers know that everyone wants to give you advice about your kids. Recently I was having a conversation with a group of women and one mom piped up with, “My daughter is almost 2 and what I have learned is never ask advice of a mom with an only child.” I giggled. Having 2 kids, I understand. The first kid gets handmade organic baby food, we only listened to classical music during pregnancy and every new coo is cause for elation.

Second kid, still organic baby food but these pouch things, amazing. Why teach her to eat from a spoon? Why bother with more dishes, just suck it straight out of the bag. Finding the right balance is never easy.

You want to be doing the right things for all of them, honoring their personalities, but what are you doing for you?

Changes in daily routines

Advice for a first-time mom typical is, “make sure you sleep when they sleep dear.” By number two juggling a toddler & an infant it is really just survival of the fittest to stay awake. Often, moms are so consumed by worrying about everyone else in the house that we forget to take care of ourselves.

It is so important that we take care of ourselves physically & mentally so that we can give them everything they need.

**Spoiler alert – older doesn’t mean easier it just means different. You trade bottles, diapers and a favorite ducky for gymnastics bags, homework and athletic supporters.

Mother’s Day Resolutions

I am a big fan of small resets when appropriate. Do you need a reset? Does your routine devote any attention to you? What small healthy changes can you make so that you are better for them?

Here are some ideas:

  • Drink more water – Hydration is life
  • Create a sleep routine and stick to it (You may have to skip the dishes a few nights in a row)
  • Once you are in a positive sleep cycle you will have more energy, be less forgetful and your days will be more productive. Honor yourself by getting restorative sleep. (See last week’s blog on this here.)
  • Meditate – “You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes every day — unless you’re too busy. Then you should sit for an hour.” -Zen proverb.
  • Substitute Vitamins for increase energy & focus instead of more coffee. CHARGEit is a great alternative to a 3 pm coffee. Give yourself B Vitamins, Ginseng and Ginkgo that your body uses to create natural energy. Coffee masks fatigue and tastes great, but doesn’t help you create a healthy routine.

Those are a few thoughts from us this Mother’s Day. We want to honor all of the Mother’s out there because we know that it is hard to change our mindset. Remember we are here to support you. Whether you are committing to restorative sleep, natural energy or just a healthier life style DREAMit, CHARGEit and BOOSTit compliment your Mother’s Day resolution.

Testimonials

Mirella gives BOOSTit to her daughter:

It really works!
My daughter gave me some BOOSTit before I went on a cruise because I was worried that with the long flights to get to our boat I’d end up getting sick before our vacation even started. I took BOOSTit every day and stayed healthy the whole time. The flavor is nice and I will keep using BOOSTit any time I travel of feel like I’m getting the flu.

Julie gives DREAMit to the whole family:

My whole family loves it!
Everyone in our family has been using DREAMit to get a good night’s sleep. Our son takes just a few squirts to help him calm down and fall asleep much faster. My husband and I take the full dose and have been falling asleep faster and sleeping better. And if you wake up during the night and can’t fall back asleep another squirt or two does the trick. Great stuff!
